KANSAS CITY, Kan., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Kansas Speedway and The Cordish Company’s (Kansas Entertainment LLC) proposed 1.5 million square-foot, Hard Rock Hotel & casino will include a 300-room luxury hotel; a state-of-the-art casino with 3,000 slot machines and 140 gaming tables; 275,000 square-feet of destination retail, dining and entertainment including a live music venue; first-class resort amenities; and extensive meeting and convention facilities. With a development cost over $700 million, with no public incentives associated with this project, the Hard Rock Hotel & casino will provide the community with an economic benefit of $4.86 billion over 20 years.
As part of their proposal, Kansas Speedway announced International Speedway Corporation (NASDAQ Global Select Market: ISCA; OTC Bulletin Board: ISCB) (”ISC”) will petition NASCAR for a second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series date for the track if Kansas Speedway and The Cordish Company are awarded the casino management contract for Wyandotte County (Kan.).
In addition, the proposal not only provides significant expansion capabilities but also includes a temporary casino to open within eight months. The temporary casino will operate during construction and will include 2,000 slot machines and 75 gaming tables. It is estimated that the temporary casino will generate in excess of $200 million in annual revenue.
“Kansas Speedway and The Cordish Company have already shown a tremendous commitment to this region, having invested hundreds of millions of dollars in two of the most successful regional destinations in the country - the Kansas Speedway and the Kansas City Power & Light District,” stated David Cordish, chairman of The Cordish Company.
“We could not have realized Kansas Speedway without the unwavering support of state and local leaders. Our combined vision helped create a world-class motorsports facility that continues to provide a significant economic benefit to the community. Kansas Speedway not only attracts hundreds of thousands of fans throughout the year but also serves as a catalyst for new development,” stated ISC President Lesa France Kennedy. “Many positive changes to the community have occurred since our arrival and we believe our Hard Rock Hotel & casino proposal will continue the momentum we started and benefit the taxpayers of Kansas.”
“We’re very excited about the prospect of a second Sprint Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway,” said Kansas Speedway President Jeff Boerger. “A second Sprint Cup race and a Hard Rock Hotel & casino would be a tremendous benefit to not only Wyandotte County, but to the state of Kansas. An additional race weekend and our Hard Rock property would increase tourism in the area and have a significant economic impact on both Wyandotte County and the state.
“Kansas Speedway currently has an economic impact of $243 million to the area. The addition of a second Sprint Cup Series race would add another $111 million to the community,” said Boerger, who was the vice president of the Kansas City Area Development Council prior to joining Kansas Speedway, citing research conducted by the Washington Economics Group, Inc.
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which would be located in Kansas Speedway’s Turn 2 with strong visibility and access to both Interstate 70 and Interstate 435, will bring a distinctive and energetic destination entertainment and gaming experience to Wyandotte County and establish the area as one of the major sports and leisure destinations in the country.
Kansas Speedway tickets are on sale now for 2008-09 packages and can be purchased by calling 866.460.RACE or logging onto .
O’Reilly Auto Parts Qualifying Day tickets for Sept. 26 and Sprint Fan Walk tickets are also available online or by calling 866.460.RACE. Parking is always free at Kansas Speedway.

LAS VEGAS, July 7 /PRNewswire/ — The 39th annual World Series of poker (WSOP) presented by Milwaukee’s Best Light, drawing on its unprecedented international appeal, has proved largely impervious to the challenging economic conditions plaguing the broader U.S. economy. When registration for the WSOP’s most popular event closed Sunday evening at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, the poker extravaganza had shattered the game’s most prominent records:
– Most total registrants. More than 58,500 players have competed in the 55 events at this year’s WSOP, eclipsing the previous record of 54,288 set in 2007.
– Largest total prize pool. At more than $180 million, the 2008 WSOP prize pool far surpassed the previous record of $159,796,918 set last year.
– Most countries/territories represented. Not including Main Event participants, players from 104 different countries/territories have competed in 2008 WSOP events — more than in the 2006 Winter Olympics. The previous record number of countries represented at the WSOP was 87, also set in 2007.
– Largest non-Main Event field: 3,929 players each put up $1,500 to compete in the 2008 WSOP’s first no-limit hold’em tournament that began May 31.
– First Family: The Hinkle brothers, from Kansas City, Mo., became the first-ever set of brothers to win bracelets in the same year. Grant won Event #2 and $831,432; Blair won Event #23 and $507,563. The Hinkles become only the second set of brothers to win bracelets at the WSOP, joining the Pearsons: Puggy (1973) and J.C. (1994).

“This has been an incredible season and we’re not done yet,” said World Series of poker Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack. “So far, players from 56 countries, every state in the U.S. and every Canadian province have cashed at this year’s WSOP. When all is said and done, we’re going to award more prize money to more players than at any other point in our illustrious 39-year history.”
The 39th annual World Series of poker began May 30 and runs through July 14 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The Main Event, which required four start dates to accommodate the field of 6,844 players, began on July 3 and is the second-largest live poker tournament ever held. The Final Table will be determined on July 14. The nine players who advance to the Final Table will return to the Rio on Nov. 9 to play down to just two players. The final two will then go head-to-head late in the evening of Nov. 10 to determine the champion and winner of poker’s ultimate prize. The final eight competitors will each win at least $1 million, with the first-place finisher will receiving a staggering $9.1 million.

LONDON, June 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — VEGA PROMOTIONAL SYSTEMS, INC. (Pink Sheets: VGPR) today issued the following update to its shareholders.
The purpose of this letter is to update our shareholders with information concerning the business of the Company as we move forward.
As we have mentioned in the past, our Business Plan includes three individual business units; Software Services, Brand/Talent Agency, and Media Production Services. We are currently working on projects in each of these three areas.
Software Services. We are currently in negotiations to acquire an existing software development company that has developed unique proprietary software for the online gaming industry. This software will provide us with the necessary tools to develop the Vega Gaming Network where players from all over the world will play together on websites that have licensed the software from Vega. We anticipate closing this transaction within the next few weeks.
Brand/Talent Agency. We continue to work with professional poker personality, Bob Clark, a.k.a. Bob the Butcher to expand the BTB brand to new international markets. Future plans include the Butcher poker Academy where players will learn to play both tournament poker and cash game poker. Bob will also be one of the online commentators for the poker Tour of the Americas (PTA). Vega has licensed the trademarked name Bob the Butcher to ButcherPoker, LTD for use on their online gaming website. We are also working with other companies to expand their brands internationally and will provide updates as they become available.
Media Production Services. We recently announced the development of the poker Tour of the Americas (PTA). The PTA is a series of poker tournaments held in locations in North and South America. The Tour, similar to the World poker Tour, will be filmed for television and Vega will be the Executive Producer. As Executive Producer, we will own the content and will be responsible for selling the advertising for the programming. Rather than sell the idea to the network, we will purchase the necessary airtime to run the programming. The programs will be aired throughout North and South America and we will profit from the sale of advertising each time the programs are aired. More information about the PTA will be provided as it becomes available.
We want to thank our loyal shareholders for their continued patience and understanding during this time of growth and look forward to providing further information on the projects we are working on as we move forward.
Sincerely,
Michael Herron
CEO
